Sean Varicalli calls himself a graduate of “WXOUniversity.”
Before moving to the Lansing market to host afternoons on Townsquare Media’s WJIM, he hosted “The Sean Varicalli” show from 2009 to 2014 with best friend, Matt Adkins. Together, they interviewed artists like Barry Manilow, Big Sean, Eddie Money, Jason Segel, LMFAO, Ted Nugent, and so much more. He also spent a good portion of his years at WXOU on executive staff as Promotions Director, General Manager and then Program Director.
Varicalli’s career in professional radio started in the CBS Detroit cluster when he was just 21 years old. First, he produced the “Bobby and Stacey” morning show on 104.3FM while simultaneously jocking shifts on 99.5 WYCD.
Varicalli then moved down to the hall to 98.7 AMP Radio and across the street to Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network. He says, “My favorite part of working at WXOU was working with friends over the years, our Michigan Association of Broadcasters Station of the Year runs, and of course the great pizza disaster of 2012. I learned everything I could about the business in that building.”
