LeVar Burton speaks to Oakland University students on MLK Day

LeVar Burton spoke on Oakland University’s campus during Martin Luther King Day to award six students the OU 2016 Keeper of the Dream Award.

The awards ceremony took place January 18, 2016 and Burton was the keynote speaker.

Burton, who is known for his roles on “Roots,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” and “Reading Rainbow,” discussed his experiences with acting and directing as well as stressing the importance of reading and using one’s imagination.
