Sunday February 5, 2023, was the annual Grammy awards. This year’s show was filled with performances, surprises and a record breaking for the most Grammy wins by an artist ever.

Performances this year included some of today’s biggest stars such as Harry Styles, Lizzo, and Bad Bunny. Other performances included tributes to Motown which included Stevie Wonder, and country star, Chris Stapleton. The 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop which included Run DMC, Ice-T, Missy Elliot and Nelly just to name a few artists. As well as a tribute to the artists we lost over the past year. Country singer, Kacey Musgraves paid tribute to Loretta Lynn, and rapper, Quavo paid tribute to his late group member, Takeoff. Other artists that were featured included Olivia Newton-John, Stephan “Twitch” Boss and Naomi Judd just to name a few.

The biggest surprise of them all was when Bonnie Raitt took home the award for Song of the Year. She was nominated against Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Adele, Beyonce, Gayle, Steve Lacy, and DJ Khaled. Viewers are still in shock almost a week later with the turn out of this award.

Beyonce’s appearance was something everybody has been talking about. She didn’t make it to the award show in time, because her and husband, Jay-Z got stuck in traffic, so she was unable to accept her first award that she won of the night. As the show went on, she became the artist who has won the most Grammy awards ever, beating music legend Quincy Jones. She now has a record of 32 Grammy awards to her name.

Other big winners included, Harry Styles’ album, Harry’s House for Album of the Year, Lizzo’s song “About Damn Time.” For record of the year, and Samara Joy for best new artist. Here’s to another year of music, and many more to come.
