Ladies and Gentlemen, Michigan may finally "fix the damn roads" with a new 10.2-billion-dollar budget. The funds will aim to repair roads, bridges, and other forms of Michigan transportation.
The budget will be broken down as follows:
7.8 billion will be used for roads and bridges
100 million will be used for the Local Bridge Program
275 million will be used for the Neighborhood Road Fund
327 million will be used for local bus transit
186 million will be used for passenger and freight rail systems
299 million will be used for airports and air travel
Representative Steele says the Michigan House has already passed the bill and is waiting for a Senate hearing to pass it as well. This is, and will most likely continue to be, the largest road budget in Michigan history. The Senate will act immediately to pass bills 4180-4187 and HB 4230, putting the money to good use and giving Michiganders what we've truly wanted for years.
