14,600 cubic yards of gunk and junk are being removed from Grand Haven Harbor's opening section. By June 30, the project is said to be finished, clearing out all debris and other obstacles that block water flow.
This plan does not involve any removal in the inner-harbor portion of the harbor, where there are minimal plans for "inner-dredging."
The corp are using natural wave action to disperse the materials that come from the operation. Dredging will remove large pieces of sunken junk and create pathways for incoming ships to travel through.
