In a match that welcomed home Volleyball and other alumni alike for homecoming weekend, the Golden Grizzlies fell to the visiting Milwaukee Panthers, the first match of 2 in a weekend slate of Horizon League conference play.

Milwaukee came out with a commanding Set 1, with the biggest lead coming to 7. Things looked grim for the Golden Grizzlies early, which forced Head Coach Krista Rice into a timeout with a 9-15 deficit. However, Oakland attempted to rally back, falling in the set while tallying 18.

In a repeat of Set 1, the Panthers made easy work of the Golden Grizzlies in the 2nd set. Much of the same took place in terms of stoppages of play as well, with Oakland looking for answers at 9-15 again with a timeout.

Milwaukee Ultimately took it 25-12.

Unfortunately for the Golden Grizzlies, the Panthers came to the O’rena and ended the match in a clean sweep, winning the last set. Milwaukee closed out the match, 3-0, and the set with a final of 25-9.

Defensive stalworth Emily Wichmann met her match with the fiery offense displayed by Milwaukee. Libby Gentile led the Golden Grizzlies with 9 kills.

Oakland falls to 11-9 on the year and 5-3 within the Horizon League.

The 2nd of the two weekend matches for Oakland takes place Saturday, October 14th, at 4pm against Green Bay for Senior Day.
