"You Oughta Know" Jagged Little Pill Touches the Hearts of Detroit!

The Broadway musical with music from Alanis Morrisette's album, Jagged Little Pill has been pulling at the heartstrings of the people of Detroit.

Grammy Award winning singer, Alanis Morrisette’s musical, Jagged Little Pill comes to Detroit for the first time from February 14th-February 26th, 2023, at The Fisher Theatre.

The show tells the story about the Healy’s. A modern-day family who is faced with current challenges that commonly faced today. The mom, Mary Jane (played by Heidi Blickenstaff) just went through a horrific accident and becomes addicted to her pain medication. The father, Steve (played by Chris Hoch) who isn’t present with his family because he has an addiction to adult entertainment. The son, Nick (played by Dillon Klena) just got into Harvard, but witnesses something that changes his life forever. The daughter, Frankie (played by Lauren Chanel) is adopted into the family and comes out as bisexual after falling in love with both her best friend, Jo, (played by Jade McLeod) and a boy she met at a party.

The play is accompanied by Alanis Morrisette’s 1995 album, Jagged Little Pill. This show and this album both features hit songs like “You Learn.” “You Oughta Know.” and “Hand in My Pocket.” The original Broadway company won a Grammy for the cast recording that was released prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the course of the run here in Detroit as well as it’s Broadway, the show was able to touch audiences and pull at their heartstrings. Other topics this show covers include rape, women’s reproductive rights, and drug related withdraws and relapse which continue to play a role in today’s society. The script and score of the show put together create an overall meaningful story that should be brought to the attention of the people now more than ever.


Jagged Little Pill is playing at The Fisher Theatre until February 26 2023.
