The St. Anne's Sausage Fest

While many may not care or take the time to appreciate such little things in life, things such as fairs and carnivals have always held a special place in my heart. Something about their aesthetic just pleases me. Unfortunately, I can't say the say for this one. The St. Anne's Sausage Fest is a carnival/festival, that brings together the art of food from around the world (specifically sausages), and the fun of being at a carnival. As you can see by the graphic to your left, this was the 51st annual festival, which leaves me wondering how good they were before this year. According to Allison Mills (my s.o.), "It gets worse and worse every year." So, if you ever plan to go to a sausage festival or any carnival in Michigan or Michigan adjacent, I'd steer clear from this one. However, there was a live cover band, and from what I heard they sounded decent. If there's any reason to go to this festival, it'd have to be for the food and the music. Any other aspect you can expect to devolve over time. Most of the rides are outdated and somewhat unsafe. Again, according to Allison Mills, "there was a wooden block supporting part of the ferris wheel, and half of the bumper cars don't work." Clearly, it's either time for a revamp or a shutdown which I think the folks who run it will choose the former rather than the latter, because money is money. In short, stay away from St. Anne's festival; you may not make it out as safe as you came in...
